Digital Filters
Digital Photography is much easier with the right kind of filter over your lens. Digital lenses are expensive to repair, so it is best to use a UV or Skylight Filter for lens protection. A Circular Polariser will help reduce or eliminate reflections from windows and can add clarity and colour to your landscapes.
Digital Filters are available at different quality levels. If used purely for protection the least expensive UV or Skylight Filters can be used. Multicoated filters will give better results thanks to a greater % of light being transmitted and lesser flare characteristics. Super multicoated filters are even better with as much as 99.7% of light being transmitted and the last coating being a hard coating that reduces the likelihood of scratches. MRC Coated B+W Filters made by Schneider in Germany are also multicoated with a hard scratch resistant final layer which also resists dust and water. So these filters are very easy to keep clean.

Hoya Filters
Hoya Filters are available as Monocoated, Multicoated, Super Multicoated and the slimmer PRO1 for use with wide angle lenses as well as Ultra UV-Circular Polarising which combines UV and Circular Polarizing in an Ultra Thin Filter ideal for Super Wide Angle Lenses. This fitter has no thread on the front so a slip-on lens cap is included with the filter.
B+W Filters from Schneider Germany
B+W Filters are available for an amazing number of different purposes. These fine filters are also available monocoated or in the B+W exclusive Multi Resist Coating. This unique coating enhances light transmission, reduces flare, is very hard to reduce scratching and as a bonus it also resist dust and water. It is my personal favourite because I like quality filters, but I don't like cleaning them.
Cokin Digital Filter System
The Cokin Filter System is both modular and easy to use. We recommend the Cokin A Series Range for Compact Digital Cameras and the Cokin P Series Range for Digital SLR Cameras. The Cokin Filter System can be fitted to any digital camera with a filter thread. This is good news, as there is simply no substitute for a Circular Polariser available in Photoshop and this filter can save you hours of tedious work removing reflections. Many other exciting Cokin 'A' and 'P' Filters are available. These filters are fast and easy to change and the result may be reviewed immediately on your camera LCD screen.
Marumi Filters from Japan
These filters are sized to fit most compact digital cameras with a filter thread. Many compact digital cameras also have a lens tube available, allowing for lenses or threaded filters to be fitted. Your camera manual will tell if your camera can be fitted with screw-in filters directly or via a lens tube.
